I am a writer, editor, and writing coach.

Nisha Kumar Kulkarni is a freelance writer, editor, and writing coach based in New York City.

In 2017, she was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, which literally changed her life overnight. Since then, she has become a chronic illness and mental health advocate. Through her work, it is Nisha's mission to help people feel less alone and to learn how to work with their limitations while pursuing their passions.

Nisha has written about poverty in South Asia, social entrepreneurship, work-life balance, marginalized experiences in the workplace, and living with chronic illness. Her work has been published on platforms like various Medium publications, Idealist, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation blog, and The Rockefeller Foundation.

As a coach, Nisha has worked with clients to launch nonprofits, books, whitepapers, and podcasts. Since 2020, she has expanded her work to include coaching high school and graduate students on how to write earnestly and effectively in their own unique voice. If you are interested in her coaching services, please send her a note at nisha@nishakkulkarni.com.

Today, Nisha is hard at work on her first novel—and is already itching to start work on her second and third ones. She is launching a free Substack--called "write nisha"--in Spring 2024 where she will write essays about living with chronic illness, mental health, her writing life, her reading life, and other musings.  You can sign up for that now, but until then, you can catch her book reviews every couple of days on Instagram. You can also visit her Bookshop.org storefront to purchase her favorite reads.
