Nisha Kumar Kulkarni is a freelance writer, editor, and writing coach based in New York City. She has been a solopreneur since 2013 and has worked with dozens of clients around the world.

Because of Nisha’s experience living with trigeminal neuralgia (a rare, incurable chronic pain condition) and chronic migraine, she is a chronic illness and mental health advocate. Through her work, it is Nisha's mission to help people who identify as BIPOC, queer, chronically ill, disabled, and/or neurodivergent, to feel less alone and to learn how to tell their stories with pride.

Nisha has written about poverty in South Asia, social entrepreneurship, work-life balance, marginalized experiences in the workplace, and living with chronic illness. Her work has been published on platforms like various Medium publications, Idealist, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation blog, and The Rockefeller Foundation.

As a coach, Nisha has worked with clients to launch nonprofits, books, white papers, and podcasts. Since 2020, she has expanded her work to include coaching high school and graduate students on how to write earnestly and effectively in their own unique voice.

At present, Nisha works with clients on a selective basis and invites you to send her a note at nisha@nishakkulkarni.com to discuss your interest in working with her as an editor or writing coach.

Today, Nisha is hard at work on her first novel and is already itching to start work on her second and third. She authors a weekly essay on her Substack, called write nisha write!, where she writes about being a writer and reader, life with chronic illness, navigating mental health, and being an empathetic human in our mad, mad world.
